About the platform

WHY ROOTS MATTER

This platform exists to preserve, document and transmit knowledge from African and Afro-diasporic traditions — traditions that survived enslavement, colonisation and generations of deliberate misrepresentation.

Respect the cultures · Honor the roots · Protect the knowledge

How we write about traditions

Every course carries three explicit registers — what we know, what is tradition, and what is debated — so that historical research, oral transmission and contemporary interpretation are never silently blended.

Distinguish fact from belief

Historical record and religious belief are presented as different kinds of statement.

Name sources

Every claim is attributable. Bibliography is part of the lesson.

Avoid generalisation

No tradition stands in for another; no region stands in for a continent.

Refuse stereotypes

Sensational imagery is examined as history, never reproduced as fact.

Explain regional difference

Practice varies by island, region, house and lineage — and we say so.

Respect communities

Practitioners are cited and credited; initiatory material is not published.

Contextualise practice

Rituals are explained within their social and historical setting.

No scientific claims

Spiritual practice is not presented as scientifically verified.
